Andrea presented the second Placet tutorial about "Main Linac Tracking and Basic Alignment Algorithms". The material from the tutorial can be found at /afs/cern.ch/eng/sl/lintrack/TEX/PLACET_Tutorials .
The third tutorial will be held by Peder on Wednesday 25 October at 16.00. The topic will be "Main Linac Beam-Based Alignment Procedures and Bump Tuning".
After Andrea's tutorial Warner explained that he has found the reason for the difference between his and Wang's result for the grooved surface SEY. The difference was that Warner had assumed a flat distribution (between 0 and 20 eV) for the energy of the secondary emission electrons. Wang on the other hand assumed that the energy was distributed according to the positive part of a gaussian function with σ=5eV.
Andrea also mentioned that he, apart from the tutorial, has been working on structuring the Placet code. This seems to improve the speed for certain simulations by roughly 30%.
