Minutes from Beamdynamics meeting

Time: 16:00 1 Jun 2005
Place: 6/2-002
Participants: T. Asaka, H. Burkhardt, P. Eliasson, M. Korostelev, A. Latina, J. Resta Lopez, D. Schulte, F. Zimmermann

Daniel informed that the EUROTeV money should now have arrived at CERN, but the details are not really clear. He also said that the London meeting is more or less planned. Helmut will have some presentations, Peder will have one during the BD session about his luminosity tuning bumps simulations and possible a few slides for the BD+INSTR session. Takao will present his and Javiers report on the code comparison they have carried out.

Maxim said he has run simulations to conclude that the effect of the non-linearities of the wiggler-fields on the aperture is negligible. For the moment he is also finishing his thesis which should be done by the end of June.

Takao is preparing his London-presentation. He is also doing some final simulations.

Javier said that he is currently preparing the note on the code comparison. He also showed the latest results, which was a plot of luminosity vs βy* similar to what had been shown earlier, but now including the theoretical results obtained with the Irwin-formula.

Andrea explained that he has implemented a new algorithm to transform a particle beam into a sliced beam. The algorithm still has to be tested.

Peder has started working on simulations of luminosity tuning bumps including the BDS and using Guinea-Pig to do the luminosity calculations.

Helmut reported on the status of his SR generation routine. The routine seems to be working well and is faster than his old routine. The routine now has to be tested and documented and then implemented in GEANT and MAD-X.

Daniel then explained that he, with help from Andrea, has been working on putting the EUROTeV WP6 Workplan together. Daniel has also studied the beam-based alignment in the BDS. At PAC he talked to Jeffrey Smith from Cornell who had performed a comparison of different beam-based alignment methods for ILC and come to the conclusion that dispersion free steering will not work.

A discussion was held about what was said about ILC and CLIC during PAC.

Daniel concluded by mentioning that at the next meeting Takao, Helmut and Peder might show their London-presentations.
